When you started to colour you pic, how was the dodge and burn tool adjustments still visible? Did the colour layers have a certain layer setting? Lol sorry im just curious xD
I don't really understand what you mean in your first question If you mean how comes the lineart is still visible, it's because I put the layer on Multiply so any 'white' in the layer becomes transparent and leaves only the black behind. The base colour layers and most of the shading layers were on a Normal Mode, but sometimes I'd explore with the more 'special effects' to see if I can get pretty results - it's all a matter of experimenting really :>
This is probably one of the most helpful tutorials I've come across. I have massive difficulty creating scenes and never know where to start with them, but this has given some really helpful tips to have a go with next time I attempt to draw one. I particularly like how you added those additional colours to the brickwork, they really make the wall look more interesting, rather than it just being solid grey, great idea .
Woah that's awesome to hear Well I'm glad it's helped you get a clearer idea about what to do with things! If you have any questions I don't mind answering them
Wuaahhhhhhhhh! I can see what everyone was saying. It's great! Eclectic and amusing... but still so informative! This gives me a real insight into zee mind of zee magpie.
But there's still some things that *I* personally would have liked to have seen:
1)What actually IS the burn/dodge tool? 2) What does Multiply do? EXACTLY. Not just: 'it makes it sorta, y'know, clear-ish'. HOW CLEAR? 3)How many layers did you use?
Ah right, so I should explain tools in Photoshop, though that probably would make it more of a tutorial than a WIP, but maybe I can make mini explanation bubbles Oh, and for this pic it was about 100 layers. Thanks for the feedback

But... that's about all.
